RIDES FOR ALL AGES
Whiteside County Public Transportation provides curb-to-curb transit for all ages throughout Whiteside County and beyond. Our fleet consists of lift-equipped and ramped vehicles, making the system fully accessible. Comfort/service animals are welcome on all fleet vehicles.
In-county rides are available from 6am-6pm Monday-Friday to work, school, medical and dental appointments, grocery stores, visits with friends or anywhere else! Our fleet also runs trips to the Sauk Valley Community College/Sinnissippi Centers and Dixon area up to 5 times daily. See below for details.
It is the mission of Whiteside County Public Transportation to get residents of all ages where they need to go while providing safe, efficient, affordable county-wide transporation. We strive to enhance the quality of life for all Whiteside County residents.
We are a federally assisted program, with funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transporation, the Whiteside County Board and United Way of Whiteside County, as well as generous donors like you. If you would consider giving, attend an upcoming fundraiser, contact us to volunteer, or click the Donate button at the bottom of the page. We appreciate your support!
Fares & Scheduling
All ages can ride for free. A $2 donation is recommended.
Schedule A Ride
- 1. Call Central Dispatch Monday through Friday between the hours of 6am and 6pm at (815) 625-7433. TTY Users Dial 711.
-
2. Provide the dispatcher with the following information:
- > Your name
- > Pick-up address
- > Drop-off address
- > Appointment time
- > Date that you are requesting a ride
- > If you will be using a mobility device or bringing a comfort/service animal
- > Whether or not you will need a return ride
- 3. The dispatcher will confirm your reservation and give you a scheduled pick-up window.
On Your Trip Day
Riders must be ready and waiting for the driver during their half-hour scheduled pick-up window. Once a driver arrives, the driver will wait 5 minutes for a rider to board the bus. If the rider has not boarded the bus within 5 minutes of the driver's arrival, the bus will depart and move on to the next scheduled stop. Riders who do not board the bus will be considered a "no-show." Please click the button below to review all of the guidelines in our Passenger Handbook.
ADVERTISING & SERVICE CONTRACTS
While some of your traditional, very costly forms of advertising can be turned off or thrown away, vehicle wrap advertising is here to stay. It puts your business message in the public eye like never before. Our fleet of vehicles travels throughout and beyond Whiteside County, allowing consumers to learn about your business while performing their daily activities like driving to work, going for a walk or utilizing our transit system.
Service contracts are available to county agencies that would like to offer their clients the benefit of transportation services. Service contracts are designed to meet the unique needs of agencies and their clientele. We frequently work with organizations such as the Regional Office of Education and schools, Woodlawn Arts Academy and Sinnissippi Centers to provide transportation services.
